Postcard text:
Well Hall Pleasuance was the home of Margaret Roper, the loyal daughter of Sir Thomas More, and her husband. It was more recently the home of Edith Nesbitt who wrote the ‘Railway Children’. With its historic moat and gardens it was neglected for many years until about five years ago when a major restoration turned it into Greenwich’s only Green Flag Park. It has a series of natural compartments, several which feature water, as well as wildflower areas and a bluebell dell. Close to historic Eltham Palace it is a surprisingly romantic place in a mundane part of London.
