I am waiting for you. I am standing by the bridge with the lights flickering. It is raining and I can see the raindrops splashing on the Thames. I am going to hear a concert at the Queen Elisabeth Hall. They will play our music. Will you be here?

Recommended romantic spot:

Relaxing, flat walk, gorgeous views of river dream properties. Points at which the river meets the road always seems to have particularly striking reflections off the water.

Recommended romantic spot:
Teddington Lock to the bandstand at Canbury Park Gardens, Kingston along the Thames

The walk along the river is relaxing and safe. The surrounding greenery is amazing and the meadow leading up to Richmond Terrace is beautiful when the grass is high and the flowers are out attracting butterflies and buzzing insects. The view from the terrace is romantic especially as you can even enjoy a glass of wine from the Roebuck, the local pub.

Recommended romantic spot:
Walk along the Thames in Richmond and then up the hill through the meadow to Richmond Terrace

London’s most romantic place is walking across Hungerford Bridge / Jubilee walkway at sunset. The river, the fabulous architecture and the twinkling lights of London’s south bank slowly coming to life.

A cold clear day just turning into evening, crossing the bridge and pausing to the silhouette of the city against a blue sky, stopping for lavender cake at the Royal Festival Hall watching the light go, strolling along the river at it gets dark – plenty of people and not too over lit, holding hands and feeling good.

Recommended romantic spot:
South bank, crossing the river from Embankment over Hungerford / Jubilee Bridge, up to Bank side and Borough

This place is amazing, a taste of the country but yet in easy reach of the city. Take a walk in the park through the meadow and end with a drink on the riverside. More like the Riviera in the sunshine, than south London in the rain!

PS You can even get married in the park!

Recommended romantic spot:
Richmond Park to the Riverside (start and finish at Richmond station)

I think it was Betjeman who described this park as a "real gem" - I cannot put into words as well as he could the feelings I have for this gorgeous area but I know you will love it just as much when you come here. It is surrounded by some lovely properties and the park itself is undergoing some smartening up. There's a vibrant community garden starting up too, and a really tranquil spot for us to share a moment or two. Come join me.

Recommended romantic spot:
Myatts Fields in Lambeth - just north west of Camberwell
